Assistance for Jackson Township of Morgan County, Indiana Residents

Jackson Township provides one-time emergency assistance to residents who meet eligibility requirements. This aid can help with essential utilities, medical needs, and funeral expenses in urgent situations. Please review the eligibility guidelines before applying for township assistance:

  • Must be a resident of Jackson Township, Morgan County.

  • Must be experiencing an emergency situation.

  • Must meet income guidelines (see Township Assistance Guidelines below).

  • Must be in need of basic necessities.

  • Must be employed full-time (35 hours per week), actively seeking full-time work, or medically exempt from working.

  • May be required to apply for other public assistance programs.

In accordance with Indiana law, the Trustee adheres to the Township Assistance Guidelines in determining eligibility. These guidelines are available in the Trustee’s office and are reviewed annually to reflect updates in federal and state regulations. Assistance issued is one-time emergency aid only; ongoing monthly benefits are not provided.

The Township may provide emergency assistance for the following:

  • Utilities: Vouchers for essential services such as water, gas, and electric if on a disconnect notice.

  • Medical: Assistance with prescriptions and insulin.

  • Funerals: Mortuary and burial expenses if no other resources are available.

  1. Complete the Township Assistance Application by downloading and printing the Township Assistance Application below, or pick up an application in the Trustee’s office between 10am – 12pm, Monday-Thursday, or by appointment.

  2. Bring the required documents to your interview with a caseworker.

  3. Assistance requests are typically decided within three (3) working days.

  4. If approved, the Trustee will issue a voucher for the approved assistance.

  5. Workfare may be assigned to repay assistance unless the applicant is working full-time, disabled, or without childcare.
